Life through music. When something is important to you it tends to infuence your life and it becomes a part of who you are. This something for me is music; I simply cannot live without it. Through this blog I share some insights and reflections upon the music in my life.

Feel It Break (deluxe version)

In this odd moment of time that sorrounds us ... Music is even more important for my soul's survival.

I listen to both new music (see my previous post), and yesterday's favourites that still resonate with me, greatly.

I'd like to share something with you. Almost (only) a decade old.

The deluxe version it the best, according to me: 'Feel it Break' by Austra.

I Love You More Than You Love Yourself

I've been a fan of Austra since the first album. Here's 'Love You More Than You Love Yourself' from the latest album 'Future Politics'.

Hurt Me Now

Besides that I really like this song, the video is wonderfully disturbed, and good.

Hurt Me Now - live

This beautiful song, 'Hurt Me Now', from Austra's second album 'Olympia' is one of my favourites off the album. Here it is in a different live version performed by Katie Stelmanis alone.

Hurt Me Now

Austra's new and second album is out, 'Olympia'. How about this magnificent song?

And, how about 'In Kind' by Braids?

Austra are on their way with new music. Recorded at their studio, "still fresh in the pre-recording writing stages", here is 'Painful Like':

Music from a year

As I've mentioned in an earlier post, there're many lists of best albums for the year 2011 currently being published. I'm not much for making lists of albums, I'm more into collecting songs I like and love and following the bands and artists that are close to my heart. However, I think I should mention some albums that have made my 2011 so much better and of which I am glad that I'm not without.

A part from the reissues of Suede's five studio albums and the fourth solo album from Brett Anderson, which is better than I had hoped for, there are some albums, and bands, that I am honoured to have been listening to, and seen live on two occasions. With no one better that the other, I really love these three albums:
Invasionen - 'Saker som jag sagt till natten'
Foster the People - 'Torches'
Austra - 'Feel It Break'
Other good music from this year, according to me (and I have surely forgotten some), in no particular order:

Lamb - '5'
Other Lives - 'Tamer Animals'
Dum Dum Girls - 'Only In Dreams'
Masquer - 'Cover My Face As The Animals Cry'
Zola Jesus - 'Conatus'
Anna Calvi - 'Anna Calvi'
PJ Harvey - 'Let England Shake'
Visions of Trees - 'Sometimes It Kills'/'No Flag'
Visions of Trees - 'Siren (Novocaine)'/'Sience of Hate'
Lana del Rey - 'Video Games'/'Blue Jeans'

Additionally, I'm sure there're lots of tracks and albums that I haven't discovered yet...

Have you discovered the deluxe edition of Austra's 'Feel It Break'? It includes some of the great "b-sides" from the singles, like 'Identity'.

Paper Bag

I've posted this song before, here it is again: Austra's 'Lose It'. Katie Stelmanis and the magnificent piano, nothing more, nothing less.

The Beast

I've been writing about this song on my other blog and I really should post it onto this one as well. After all, it's a song that I find beautiful, haunting and quite amazing.

It's the last track on Austra's debut album 'Feel It Break', an album great in itself. I've earlier posted their song 'Lose It' on here and there are many more that I love. Here's 'The Beast':

Lose it

I just can't seem to get enough of this song at the moment: Lose It by Austra.

And there are much more to listen to as well, 'Beat and the Pulse' for example.  Too bad Sweden wasn't included on the tour.
