Life through music. When something is important to you it tends to infuence your life and it becomes a part of who you are. This something for me is music; I simply cannot live without it. Through this blog I share some insights and reflections upon the music in my life.

Beautiful things

A place where I have posted some things that I find beautiful. More posts may come.

The egocentric way of life... Well, maybe.

However it is mainly a celebration to the magnificent night of March 24, 2010, and the reunion gig of Suede at the Royal Albert Hall. It is the best concert I have ever been to and I think it will be hard to experience anything like that again. So, about a month ago I sat myself down to make a celebration to that night and a self portrait. The photo of me is of course taken after the gig, back at the hotel all sweaty and a bit sad since I didn't know about the future of Suede, none of us did. I don't really have that many portraits of me, so why not share this one that I'm sort of proud of.

The frame is made with the use of decoupage and each album cover represents the songs played that night. Song (cover): She (Coming Up), Trash (Trash), Filmstar (Filmstar), Animal Nitrate (Animal Nitrate), Heroine (Dog Man Star), Pantomime Horse (Suede), The Drowners (The Drowners), Killing of a Flashboy (We are the Pigs), Can't Get Enough (Can't Get Enough), Everything Will Flow (Everything Will Flow), He's Gone (Head Music), The Next Life (Suede), The Asphalt World (Dog Man Star), So Young (So Young), Metal Mickey (Metal Mickey), The Wild Ones (The Wild Ones), New Generation (New Generation), Beautiful Ones (Beautiful Ones), The Living Dead (Stay Together), The 2 of Us (Dog Man Star), Saturday Night (Saturday Night).

Then and now. Yes, I could start this add by using the same words as I did below. And again I use it for t-shirts, the only difference being the t-shirts are re-printed vintage ones. Since I already have the 12" singles up on my wall (see further down this page) there's no suprise that I love these images from Suede's first four singles. Now I can wear them too, but it'll have to be for some special occasions I think.

They all fitted nicely in this little box I picked up at the O2 arena before the gig on December 7, 2010.

Then and now. Can t-shirts be beautiful? Of course they can, at least these two. One from the early nineties and one from... yes, 'two thousand and ten'.

About the gayanimalsex t-shirt, I still remember when I wore it at a festival in '95 and all the comments I got for it, the majority wasn't nice ones. However I didn't care, even though my favourite band wasn't playing that festival I still wanted to show my love for them. This is also, I think, the only pink garment you'll ever find me wearing; it's not one of my favourite colours, to say the least.

...two thousand and ten, do I need to say anything else? Ok, whoever came up with this design did a good job. It's beautiful with the letters stating the year that we got to experience the fantastic music live again. And who knows what may come hereafter...

This is one of the doves/birds blown over the audience as confetti at the end of the Kent concert on March 10, 2010. On it one can read parts of the lyrics for the songs 'Ensamheten', 'Sjukhus', 'Vals för satan (din vän pessimisten)', 'Hjärta' and 'Töntarna'.

My long awaited copy of Mr Anderson's "The words of Brett Anderson", signed by the man himself. It would have been an interesting nerdish fact to know how many jackets he had signed before this one and if one can see any "progress" when it comes to his way of signing them. However I don't know if he signed them all at once, and the man surely has signed a lot of things through the years. Kind of nerdish I know, but still quite interesting to think about.

Apparently there should be one passage of lyrics from each song on the cover jacket. I haven't read through them but I like the idea of it.

I really do love this little collection of lyrics, the size of the book itself and the fact that I now can screen through the lyrics as with poetry. I must admit though, it's hard not to "hear" the music playing in my head while reading.
