Life through music. When something is important to you it tends to infuence your life and it becomes a part of who you are. This something for me is music; I simply cannot live without it. Through this blog I share some insights and reflections upon the music in my life.

Den sista sången

So, kent played their last concert yesterday, now kent is no more. However, the band will live on through its music, through those of us who will listen, and remember.

I saw them play live for the first time in 1995 and for many years I listened to every new song they released and went to many, many concerts. Then, I slowly drifted towards other music, or if their music drifted away from me? The last ten years, or so, I have only listen to their music from time to time. But I saw them play one show on this last tour, their first gig on it, and I'm glad I did. Nice to say farewell.

This video of "the last song" nicely pictures the emotions of that concert, and the song was the last song they played at every gig on the tour, the last song they played live...

Won't you leave me alone

It's been quiet here for a while. It happens from time to time. However, today I stumbled upon a new track worth sharing.

It's the "Rave sound of the month" from the Raveonettes. To be honest I haven't followed their earlier releases this year, I have just listened to one or two of them. If you want to listen to them all, you can find them at their youtube list: rave-sound-of-the-month.

Here's June's rave sound: Won't you leave me alone.

Adds so far

The first quarter of 2016 is soon over. Three months have rushed by. So, what new or old songs have I stumbled over so far this year. Some of it you can find in the archives of this blog, but if you want to listen to some more tunes that I like to listen to, you can play through my Spotify playlist for 2016. So far it's a mix of different sounds from this year and last year, and some older songs. I'll keep adding songs throughout the rest of the year too. This is something I've done for some years now and it's nice to have a personlised playlist to dive in to whenever I feel like it. I usually play the latest 10-15 adds (or more), not the whole list, when I'm out walking, or when I just do nothing or whatever. Do so you too. Here it is, the playlist:

Of Desire

The sun of early spring is shining and I'm listening to music that balances the feelings within me. It makes me feel grounded. The new album of the KVB:

Då som nu för alltid

At least no one in Sweden has escaped the news that broke three days ago, about the band kent? They're releasing their final album (on May 20) and are going on their final tour later this year (September 23 - December 17). After 26 years together.

Wintergatan - Marble Machine

This is truly fascinating. I've been following the build of this machine on Instagram and now it's finished, and it sounds amazing.

This World is Empty (Without You)

News and new music from the Raveonettes.

"We have embarked on a 12-month ride, to write, record and release a new track for each month of this year. The Raveonettes With RAVE-SOUND-OF-THE-MONTH! Essentially we're creating an 'anti-album,' a collection of songs that are born as individuals and free to go wherever they want. It will potentially sound schizophrenic and disjointed, potentially cohesive and related. How does March 2016 sound?! We have no idea. But it’s a gas."

"Our track for January is “This World Is Empty (Without You)”. This song was a challenge in its minimalism, and one of the only Raveonettes songs where a guitar simply didn’t work. The beat is our take on an 80’s Freestyle beat ala Debbie Deb, but the overall vibe of the song is characteristically darker. Now, go turn the lights off and dance like it’s 2016 and nobody's watching you.

Rave On X Sharin & Sune

Pale Snow

Yesterday was a strange day. The day we learnt about the passing of a hero. I haven't yet had time to listen to 'Blackstar', the new, and the last, album by David Bowie. I will do that later. It surely will be a special moment.

A new song from Suede's forthcoming album 'Night Thoughts' appeared yesterday, it's called 'Pale Snow' and it's a lovely tune.
